I love it when I am watching old E.R. reruns and I can see things in the background and I can identify them and they are .5 block from my old building at work. Doooy. It's the little things.
Sleater-Kinney were so awesome. I dropped a bunch of bonez to go to Lollapadorkza on Friday primarily to see them. I, along with my girlcrush and 3 of her friends caught The Editors, whose lead singer is hella hot, Ryan Adams, who positively blew, Iron & Wine and Sam Beam bestillmyheart what? Also we caught some of Jack White's new project whose name I not only mispronounce always, but cannot spell. Also the M's, the darlings of Chicago. An old work pal of mind was taking photos and so it was nice wee him. And of course, s-k. Janet was sour, per usual. Corin was sweet and fucking great. But Carrie, oh Carrie! She was the rawk and chatty and gdamn the time constraints on Lolla. Stupid Death Cab was in the 8:30 slot at the stage across the way so they had to finish on time. No encores, no "One More Hour" or "Get Up". Boo. But "Sympathy"! Yes.
My girlcrush & I stayed and wandered around and had a beer to people watch and 2 21-year-olds (v. dronk) hit on us and we giggled and remained in shock the entire way to the el.
Exhausted, I met some co-workers at a bar I'd been meaning to go to for oh, 10 years now, quite literally, and a girl who I know from a one madison/anntalley, was tending bar and so that was nice. I was smelly & rank but not asleep so this is a plus. It was an old lady's night out indeed.
The rest of the weekend was chillax since the last 14 days have been filled with biz. Whole Foods & manicure and much couching.
August 6th & still tan. I am megs close to buying a ticket to NYC to visit a pal who just moved there this weekend and meet up with my New Zealand pal who is stopping there on here way back to NZ for good. But a week before I plan on Thanksgivinging in Mujeres so........whateves. Who cares? It's only moneh.
